The Holy See, as a subject of international law, occupies a permanent and important place in international relations, playing an active role in both the global and regional context. Along with other entities of international law, it participates in shaping the international environment and influences the establishment of world order. In light of this, the international subjectivity of the Holy See has gained importance over the centuries through a long-standing custom, i.e. the adoption of uniform application of law by members of the international community. This has led to the universal recognition of the Holy See as a subject of international law by other subjects which also derive their rights and obligations from this law. Today, it is mainly the ability to maintain diplomatic relations, the ability to conclude international agreements and the ability to conduct talks with other participants in international relations. The aim of this text is to analyze the position of the Holy See as an entity and mediator in international relations, taking into account its history, attributes of subjectivity, role in shaping international relations, and diplomatic activities in the context of contemporary challenges and emerging prospects facing the Holy See in the 21st century.
