Abstrakt

Based primarily on Jon Fosse’s literary works, mainly his Septology, but also in the broader context of his views, the author analyzes how the writer presents the concept of God and religious faith in his work. She points out that this is related to the specificity of literary language, which, using metaphor, can describe religious experience more adequately. In the first chapter, the author briefly presents the plot of Septology, and in the second, she discusses Fosse’s way of talking about God, which draws heavily on the approach of Meister Eckhart. She also analyzes how Fosse writes about religious faith. She then attempts to demonstrate how the narrator’s reflections influence his understanding of man and the story about him. It shows that although the author seeks help in religion to better understand the ontological status of man, his reflections are inconclusive. However, for the reader, they provide an opportunity for catharsis and a better understanding of himself in the context of religious faith.
