Inculturation activities towards cultural phenomena of dechristianization and desecularization. Selected is-sues from the social philosophy and cultural strategy of the Roman Catholic Church
Keywords:
inculturation, dechristianization, desacralization, secularization, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, Pope FrancisAbstract
The aim of this article is not to present and explain the concept of inculturation etymologically, nor to reconstruct fully the historical processes of dechristianization and desecularization in Western culture. Undoubtedly, both aspects of the analyzed problem are important for understanding the issue. However, the breadth and complexity of the topic go beyond the aims of this text and exceed the recommended standards required for a scientific article. Therefore, the main aim of this article will be achieved by showing the meaning of the concept of inculturation in the context of several important historical remarks and in the context of the cultural strategy of the post-conciliar Roman Church. This will be achieved by examining selected issues from the catechesis and socio-cultural philosophy of Popes John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.
